Conger eel
Conger eel is often seen in Kyoto restaurants. This mild and elegant white fish is known as a high-class fish loved by people in the Kansai region. In fact, Toyota Fishing Port in Shimonada, Futami-cho, Iyo City, boasts one of the highest conger eel catches in the country. Most of it is shipped to the Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe regions, so there is little local distribution, but during the season, it is sold at fresh fish shops in Futami-cho.
