かんきつ類
伊予市の海洋性の気候と平坦な山地はかんきつ類の栽培に最適で、明治40年ごろから温州ミカンの生産が始まりました。現在、愛媛県は全国でもトップクラスのかんきつ類生産県となっていますが、中でも伊予市の温州ミカンは特に味が良く、マル「伊」のマークで全国に出荷されています。また、最近は愛媛県独自の新品種「甘平」の栽培も盛ん。「甘平」は非常に甘く(平均糖度は13度以上!一般的なミカンの糖度は10~11度です)、プチプチとした食感が特長で、じょうのう(内袋)が薄くとても食べやすいです。
