There are two spectacular view points inside the house. One is a bath made of cypress wood that is resistant to moisture and has a pleasant scent. There is a large window next to the bathtub, so you can enjoy a luxurious time watching the sun set over the sea while soaking in the bathtub.

The other is a pine corridor facing the sea. This hallway was originally made to be twice as wide as the normal one in order to protect the Japanese-style rooms from the strong sunlight. We also recommend relaxing on the Scandinavian-designed sofa in the hallway and enjoying the ever-changing scenery.

The spacious wooden deck is a CAMO deck with no screws on the surface, so it won't get cracked, so it's safe for children to run around barefoot.

Renovation that fully understands the potential of wood

The living/dining room has a large dining table and a wood stove. The top of this dining table is said to be a cherry tree board that was used 200 years ago at Tsuyama Castle (a castle built in Tsuyama City, Okayama Prefecture by Mori Tadamasa, the younger brother of Mori Ranmaru, a page of Oda Nobunaga). A stylish wood stove uses far-infrared radiant heat to warm you to the core even in the cold winter. The friendly owner may even teach you how to cook on the wood stove.

What's more, the floor and walls of the toilet are all made of Japanese cypress wood, giving you a nice wood scent even inside the toilet.

This guesthouse is filled with a lot of attention to detail when it comes to wood, and the house was built with just the right materials in the right places. A kanejaku (hardware ruler curved at right angles) quietly hung on the wall of the living room is a testament to the spirit of the craftsmen who completed the work. Moreover, the scale of this curved scale is shaku, not cm. Please find it when you stay overnight.

The guesthouse was renovated by Kyoei Mokuzai Co., Ltd., which started manufacturing roasted cedar in Japan's first factory in 1974. "Shimonada Haus" is actually the birthplace of former president of Kyoei Mokuzai.

When the house where he was born was about to become vacant, the former president was troubled by the thought that although it would be painful to leave the house unattended, he did not want to rent it out or sell it because he had an attachment to the house where he was born and raised.
